Yes - I have been terrible at keeping up this website, but not because I have been idle.  I am performing constantly.  I’m doing so many differently styles that I’ve decided to put all upcoming gigs on my calendar, even if it does not have to do with my CD’s.  This website will slowly be turned into a catch-all site.  Let me update you.
I have a wonderful 3 to 4 part harmony group I formed with my voice students.  We call ourselves Hodgepodge.  I formed it because I found my students were not having the chance to perform a lot and needed work on harmonies.  Now we perform regularly and I’m sorry I did not have all our gigs up on this calendar.  I will from now on.  We perform a combination of Celtic folk, contemporary folk, mouth music, originals (I encourage them to write and all I can say is WOW), bluegrass country etc.  The members change so we have different instruments.  Right now our group consists of Bromlyn Myra, Katherine Heim and Krystle Nowe, age ranges: 12 - 16.  I’m trying to slip out and let them take it on their own but we just have so much fun I’m staying in.
Another very exciting endeavour is our group consisting of Cynthia Myers, Jamie Junger and myself.  They are all talented singer performers/songwriters.  Check out their websites.  We do shows in schools with costumes and sets around important issues.  Our latest show is called the Food Show.  We write the music and script to our own shows, and I have to say this is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
I’m also performing classically singing with Baroque Ensembles or in an Opera or concerts.  Not a lot.  I am a voice teacher but to do the switch from folk to classical is a challenge.  Oh, but man, to sing Arias…well….what can I say?
I’ve also performing solo my original material as well as Helen Creighton, Traditional folk and songs of other writers.  This will happen more and more and I will post the performances.  I have decided I love to sing so many folk styles and am putting them all in this solo gig playing piano, guitar and bodhran (of course not all at the same time).
I am steadily working on my Opera, slow….and steady……but I love it.
Finally, I am doing a Celtic Samhein evening with Don Sedgewick and William Kowalski.  Bill, (a wonderful writer, check out his website) will be doing the readings and Don and I will play a mixture of jigs and reels and traditional songs.  I also sing a song from my celtic opera.  Should be fun!  This is on October 17th.  I’ll post the gig.  Space is limited.
Thanks for still buying my albums online.  Check for online gig postings as they are now going to be constantly updated with all the performances I take part in.
Cheers!
Mary
