Time flies by. Finally my Musical/Opera on Morgan La Fay is being arranged for piano! Big thank you to Andre Haines who I accidentally bumped into at a show. Although he has been living along the South Shore for years like me, we didn’t know that we were here! I hadn’t seen Andre for 20 years and he is the perfect person to write the score. I am so thrilled - and have much work to do!
I’ve joined forces with dynamic musicians and singers Heather Kristensen, Rachel Kristensen and Cynthia Myers. We are doing some very fun and interesting stuff. We’re brand new. I’m writing like crazy for this too. We also will be using a wide variety of instruments from piano, violins, ukulele, guitar, harmonium, accordion, recorder and the list goes on. I am so honoured to be working with such great musicians and writers.
I’m not out touring but thank you to all the people who keep buying my CD from CD baby. I’m also performing solo celtic sets but the above keeps me occupied enough. Oh to balance being a mother/wife and a musician. It is tricky sometimes but worth it. My daughter is seven. one of my most thrilling moments was when I could showed her chords on the piano and Craig and I played accordion and guitar to her piano. She then piped up “Mummy, I think I can step dance to this!” So the next 1/2 hour was spent in the kitchen while we played fiddle tunes and she step danced. I cannot think of better heaven then playing with your family.
Love to all, may you be either listening to music, or playing music with your friends and ones you love.
Mary
