Mary KnickleFor the past 30 years Mary Knickle has composed music, songs and lyrics.
Her first compositions were collaborations in several collective creations including a new musical KC Superstar with Mulgrave Road Coop. In 1986 she began a singer songwriter career and released 3 recordings as well as writing over 100 songs. In 2000 she found her passion for composing large works and has since written one Operas, a smaller musical drama for voices and strings and one Requiem as well as a score of choral compositions and arrangements. She is currently working on her third Opera.

1990 – Lyricist and Composer for “The Really Little Theatre Company” children’s productions
2007 – Lyricist and Composer for musical “Champlain” book by Malcolm Calloway
2007-2009 – Performed, composed and arranged music and songs for children’s Theatre group: The Triplets “Christmas Show” and “The Food Show.”
2011 – Opera/Musical Morgan Le Fay premiered by Maritime Concert Opera and received a wonderful review in Opera Canada Magazine
2012 – Choral work TARRY published with Cypress Choral Publishing, Vancouver, BC
2013 – Miryam – a musical drama written for voices and string quartet premiered along side Maritime Concert Opera’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. Miryam is the Christmas story told from the point of view of the midwives and Mary
2014 – The Seafarers’ Requiem, a requiem dedicated to those lost at sea and left on land is written for SATB chorus and soloists and was performed in Lunenburg, Halifax and Shelburne. It received national coverage on CBC radio and local coverage on CBC Television, Global TV, the Chronicle Herald and local papers. It is currently being orchestrated and considered for Symphony Nova Scotia’s 2016 – 2017 season.

2008 – album WEAVE – Best Provincial Folk CD at the TEMA’s
2008 – song “Weave the Yarn – Best Provincial Folk Song at the TEMA’s
2008 – song “The Grail” – Semi-Finalist at UK Songwriting in association with British Academy of Composers and Writers.
2006 – song “Weave the Yarn” – honourable mention in the singer/songwriter awards out of London, UK through “We Are Listening”
